The Customer: ALL is the biggest railway base logistics operator in Latin America, responsible for the 
transportation of several products in segments like commodities, inputs and fertilizers, fuels, construction, forest, steelmaking, hygiene and cleaning, electric and electronics, automotive and auto parts, packaging, chemical, petrochemical and beverages. Combining the economic advantages of railway transportation with the flexibility of highway transportation (trucks), the company covers an area corresponding to 62% of Mercosul’s GDP.
The Challenge: Provide company’s operators and dispatchers with an operation with a higher success rate, which provides for resources and assets assignment optimization, generating efficiency improvement and cost reduction, and enhancing the company’s competitiveness.
The Solution: In order to meet the challenges presented by ALL Logística, CFlex implemented Movement Planner, an intelligent Decision Making support system focused on optimized train circulation planning.
The Product: Employing several computing intelligence algorithms, Movement Planner analyzes a series of information coming from several databases, conforms with specific business conditions and rules, simulates scenarios, and provides the dispatcher with the best available options for maximum operation optimization within a timeframe that may include the next hours or a few days.
Movement Planner interacts with the planner/dispatcher, making information alteration easier and reevaluating the best options according to situations of the moment as informed by the planner/dispatcher.
The Result: Since its implementation at ALL Brasil and, later on, ALL Argentina, Movement Planner has made possible the operational efficiency increase and the simultaneous generation of several timetables resulting from variables and scenarios that analyze and simulate eventualities, from shipping delays to accidents. Possible solutions are generated instantaneously, allowing for the anticipated planning and time enhancement for decision windows.
These features contributed for an effective reduction of 16.8% in the overall train transit average.
Numbers appoint to a cost reduction, including fuel consumption, and to efficiency and competitiveness increase for ALL Logística, which has been using Movement Planner since its implementation in 2005, and is satisfied with the results achieved.
